Cruceros Australis was founded in 1990 with the purpose to operate Tourist Cruises in the Chilean-Argentinian Patagonia.

Cruceros Australis currently, operates The M/V Via Australis was built in 2005 and Stella Australis built in 2010. Via Australis and Stella Australis are an Expedition Cruiseships that sail through the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel and explores one of the wildest and most beautiful regions of the world: Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, at the southernmost tip of the South American continent. Offering an alternative of 3 or 4 -night cruises, from September to April.

Itineraries can depart from either Ushuaia in Argentina and Arrive in Punta Arenas, or Depart from Punta Arenas and Arrive in Ushuaia. This gives our clients flexibility to explore both sides of the Southern Patagonia region as well as include several countries in the same itinerary.

 

Summary of the Luxury Patagonia Cruise:

Day 1: Depart Ushuaia (Wednesday)

Today, check in at Ushuaia and board the “Mare Australis” cruise ship, and we will begin the journey to Punta Arenas.

Day 2: Beagle Channel & Cape Horn (Thursday)

After traveling through, the Beagle Channel and Murray Channel, we will disembark at the Cabo de Hornos and later at Wulaia Bay.

Day 3: Günter Plushot Glacier (Friday)

On day three, we will disembark at the incredible Bay of the Günter Plushot Glacier, and hike near the glacier.

Day 4: Strait of Magellan (Saturday)

The last day of this thrilling excursion includes traveling in the Strait of Magellan to get to Magdalena Island.

Day 1: Depart Ushuaia (Wednesday)

Check in at 245 San Martín Street, Ushuaia (from 9am to 4pm). And embark on the “Mare Australis” expedition cruiseship from 5pm to 6pm The crew headed by the Captain will welcome you aboard for cocktails with your cruise companions. We will set sail to Punta Arenas navigating through the Beagle Channel and the Patagonian channels. This adventure should be an add-on to a longer itinerary in Chile and/or Argentina.

Day 2: Beagle Channel & Cape Horn (Thursday)

Navigation through the Beagle Channel and Murray Channel to disembark at the Cabo de Hornos (Cape Horn) National Park, weather permitting. We will visit Horn Island to get a panoramic view of the famous and mythical Cape Horn, the place where the Pacific and Atlantic oceans merge and the last promontory of South America. Disembark at Wulaia Bay, a historical indigenous settlement with places of high archeological value. Additionally, this place offers a very beautiful visual spectacle due to its vegetation and geography.

Day 3: Günter Plushot Glacier (Friday)

Disembark at the the Bay of the Günter Plushow Glacier and hike near the glacier. After this unforgettable experience, we will continue navigating through O’Brien and Ballenero Channels, Bahía Desolada, Paso Aguirre and Cockburn Channel.

Day 4: Strait of Magellan (Saturday)

Early in the morning, in the Strait of Magellan, we will disembark in Magdalena Island, the home of an enormous penguin colony with over 120,000 specimens in different stages of development. We will take a walk to the lighthouse, which was used to guide the exploring sailors on their way across the Strait of Magellan. After our visit we will arrive to Punta Arenas, passengers disembark at 11.30am. Our great adventure ends.
