Salvador, Brazil Rising Up!

VIP Journeys has been following Salvador’s ongoing investment in quality attractions catered to both locals and visitors to Salvador, the new Casa do Carnaval brings to life the scale, scope and sheer fun of Salvador´s carnival. With the addition of the new Fasano, we believe Salvador can appeal to a more bespoke clientele in 2019. Additional experiences that now offer more to do over a 3-4 day itinerary include: workshops for Afro drumming, Schools of Capoiera, Bale Folclorico and the new House of Carnaval.

Fasano Salvador Opened this week!

We are pleased to announce that the new Fasano Salvador has opened this week in the World Heritage-listed city of Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. This will be Fasano’s first location in the Northeast of Brazil. Designed by Isay Weinfield, the hotel is located in front of the Castro Alves Square with a privileged view of Todos os Santos Bay. It occupies the former headquarters of the A Tarde newspaper, an emblematic building from the ´30s.

The hotel will offer 70 apartments divided into 6 categories, some of which will have a view of the bay, rooftop pool deck, spa, fitness center, and restaurant.

Within walking distance from Elevador Lacerda and the Pelourinho, the property is destined become a special place in Salvador. VIP Journeys local team will inspect this hotel in Q1 and report back in a few weeks.

Casa do Carnaval – A new attraction in Salvador

The interactive multimedia museum is located in the Historical Center of the city and through a series of 18 screens, each with its own soundtrack in both Portuguese and English, focuses on various aspects of the annual mega event: the African influences, the original musical formats, the changing musical styles, costumes and customs. Two larger screening rooms on the upper floor provide a fun opportunity to learn the carnival street dances with professional instructors. The café on the top floor provides stunning views of the bay and lower city.

Visitors will leave the museum with a greater understanding of Salvador´s carnival, a whole different experience from the Rio event. Here, the people make it a party and a spectacle; a seven-day outburst of spontaneity, energy, fun and joy. In a city where many Brazilians think that 7 days of revelry is simply not enough, this new addition to the city’s attractions may help in their wait for the next carnival.
